Anthony Odgers joined the University as its Chief Financial Officer in 2017. Mr Odgers role includes oversight of institutional assets, including Cambridge University Press & Assessment, the University’s non-operational property holdings and its technology transfer through Cambridge Enterprise. He has played a leading role in developing new and existing areas of activity beyond the core Academic University, as well as the overall University’s long term strategic and financial plan. He is also a member of the Joint Negotiating Committee of the Universities Superannuation Scheme.
From 2010 to 2017, Mr Odgers held a senior position in the oversight and management of the UK Government’s corporate and financial holdings and investments, playing a key role in the Government’s position as a shareholder in a number of its assets as well as in its commercial dealings with large companies and investors. Mr Odgers had a particular involvement in the development of low carbon electricity generation.
Prior to that, Mr Odgers had a 20-year career in investment banking spanning project finance, mergers and acquisitions, capital raising and corporate restructuring. This culminated in the role of Global Co-head of the Restructuring Advisory Group at Deutsche Bank – helping the bank’s clients manage the fallout of the financial crisis.
